Cookies

A cookie is a piece of information in the form of a very small text file that is stored on your computer as a result of visiting a website. This website uses some cookies to store your settings in the Morse Code tools so that you do not need to, for instance, set your preferred speed every time. This website also makes use of cookies for three purposes via third party systems:

  1. website analytics using the Google Universal Analytics system to help me improve the site;
  2. advertising using Google Adwords to help fund the site;
  3. the Disqus comment system on the blog pages.

Google Universal Analytics uses a cookie to uniquely identify you so that your visit to the site can be tracked from page to page and so that it knows whether you are a new or returning visitor. This information helps me to understand how people use the website and therefore improve it. I have not selected Analytics options to share the data with anyone else. I have not selected Analytics options that enable "Demographics and Interest Reports" which report on your likely gender, age and interests. Please see Google's site for more information about the Google Analytics cookie.

Various cookies are created on your machine through my use of Google Adwords. These cookies help the advertisers track you and target the most appropriate adverts at you.

If you want to block cookies then I strongly suggest the Ghostery plugin for your web browser. The About Cookies site has more information in general, including instructions for each popular web browser.

If you want to block adverts then I suggest using the Adblock Plus plugin for most browsers (not Internet Explorer unfortunately).

Privacy

This website collects no data about you (other than the anonymous data described above for Google Universal Analytics). The Morse Code Trainer does have a form requesting your call-sign etc but that data stays in the web browser and is not sent to nor stored on any server. If you send a message to a friend from the Morse Code Translator then the message is recorded in a web server log file.
